In case you missed it, here’s a look at some of the top stories from the past week.

The trial date for Kyle Jacobs, a 26-year-old Diamond Bar man accused of killing his former roommate was set for March 14 in a preliminary hearing Thursday at the Los Angeles County Superior Court in Pomona.

With tax season on the horizon, local officials and community groups began an annual effort today to raise awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit that can generate hefty refunds for low- and moderate-income families with children.

Volunteers will see heavy workloads next Tuesday, when Valentine's Day will prompt hundreds of men and women to tie the knot in civil ceremonies at seven L.A. County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk offices.

California State Assembly Democrats introduced a scholarship plan Wednesday that would slash CSU and UC tuition by about two-thirds for middle class families, but Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff (R-Diamond Bar), who represents Walnut and Diamond Bar in the 29th district, isn’t buying it.

On Monday, Diamond Point Elementary School students from Kindergarten to third grade celebrated the 100th day of school with fun and educational activities.
